Older Toddler

In the Older Toddler class we concentrate on self-help skills, such as:
  • Potty training
  • Dressing and undressing
  • Self-feeding with a spoon
  • Cleaning up after meals and play time
Verbalization skills are also encouraged by learning and repeating nursery rhymes, singing songs and by personal interaction between the children and teacher.

We work very hard on social skills by encouraging sharing, playing nicely together and helping friends. Courtesy and good manners are always emphasized.

The concepts of shape, color, the alphabet and numbers are stressed along with the calendar and weather.

Our Classrooms are Set Up in Educational Activity Centers, Such as:

  • Block play
  • Music and movement
  • Dramatic play
  • Table toys
  • Sand and water table
  • Library
Interaction in each of these centers teaches the children different skills as they play. Children participate in both guided play and free play activities.

Each month's activities are based on an overall theme and detailed lesson plans on each theme are created by the classroom's lead teacher.
Each day you will receive a written report detailing your child's eating, diapering, potty training or bathroom use attempts and sleeping routines as well as special remarks from your child's educator.

Today's Child provides breakfast, lunch, and a snack as part of our meal program.

Parents are responsible for providing a sleeping bag or blanket for nap time (we provide a nat mat), a spill-proof cup, diapers, pull ups, or underwear, baby wipes, a complete change of clothing and bibs.
